Carrier Select Telecoms – Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) sets out the standards for using Carrier Select Telecoms (Pty) Ltd’s network, services, and website. By using our services, you agree to comply with this Policy, the Terms of Service, and all applicable South African laws and regulations.

The purpose of this AUP is to protect the integrity, security, and reliability of our network and to ensure that all users enjoy fair and lawful access to the Internet and related services.

1. Lawful Use

Our services may only be used for lawful purposes. You may not use our network or website for any activity that is illegal, fraudulent, defamatory, or infringes on the rights of others. This includes, but is not limited to:

1 Transmitting or distributing material that is illegal, discriminatory, or obscene;

2 Engaging in activities that promote hate speech or violence;

3 Infringing on intellectual property rights;

4 Attempting to defraud, impersonate, or gain unauthorized access to systems or data;

5 Sending unsolicited bulk emails or spam.

2. Network Security

You must not engage in any activity that threatens the security, performance, or integrity of our network. Prohibited activities include:

1 Attempting to hack, probe, or gain unauthorized access to any system;

2 Launching or participating in denial-of-service (DoS) or similar attacks;

3 Introducing malware, viruses, worms, or other harmful software;

4 Interfering with or monitoring network traffic without authorization.

3. Cybersecurity Responsibilities

While Carrier Select implements strong cybersecurity measures, customers are responsible for safeguarding their own systems. This includes maintaining updated antivirus software, secure passwords, and firewalls.

CST will not be liable for damages arising from customer-side negligence.

4. Use of Artificial Intelligence or Automation

Users may not deploy automated systems, bots, or scripts that overload or disrupt Carrier Select’s services, extract data without consent, or interfere with other users. AI-based activities that harvest data or violate privacy laws are strictly prohibited.

5. Protection of Minors

The hosting, distribution, or access to material that exploits or harms minors is strictly prohibited and will be reported to the appropriate authorities. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising minors who access our services.

6. Privacy and Confidentiality

Carrier Select respects your privacy. We collect, process, and protect personal data in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and our Privacy Policy available at https://carrierselect.co.za/popi-paia.

7. User Responsibilities

Customers are responsible for all activity conducted through their accounts. You must ensure that unauthorized individuals do not misuse your account or connection. Do not respond to spam or phishing messages and avoid clicking suspicious links.

8. Prohibited Content and Conduct

You may not post, share, or transmit content that is offensive, defamatory, harmful, or promotes illegal activity. This includes hate speech, harassment, and content that infringes on others’ rights or privacy.

9. Complaints and Reporting

If you believe this Policy has been violated, please report it to [email protected] with supporting evidence. Include any relevant IP addresses, timestamps, or screenshots to help us investigate.

Illegal content can also be reported to the Internet Service Providers’ Association (ISPA) under Section 77 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act. ISPA can be reached at 010 500 1200 or [email protected].

10. Enforcement and Breach

Carrier Select reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate service to users who violate this Policy. We may also share information with law enforcement or take legal action when necessary. Administrative costs incurred as a result of a breach may be charged to the offending party.

11. Reservation of Rights

Carrier Select reserves the right to monitor network traffic for security and operational purposes, to remove content deemed inappropriate, and to amend this Policy at any time without prior notice. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
